Hi there! #1Wife here again! So, I've been thinking about travel a lot recently. My job requires a decent amount of pretty major travel. In fact, I am going to LA, Paris, Israel, Barcelona and Tokyo before the end of the year. This all sounds exotic and wonderful but the truth is, I will be sitting in an air conditioned room for most of time I am in all of these great locales. Don't get me wrong, there will be some fun moments (for example, next week I am going on a booze cruise out of Marina del Rey with the work peeps which should be interesting if nothing else) but I am mostly concerned about missing #1son so much that I can't stand it. I know he will be well cared for between Martinidad and our wonderful nanny, but it is really hard on mommy to be away for a week at a time. I mean, who isn't going to miss this

On the other side of the coin, I am missing the days of wonderful, international travel for pleasure. We used to take 1 or 2 major trips every year but that isn't going to happen any time soon. I am already daydreaming about our 10 year anniversary trip....it's only 1.5 years away! It seems like everyone I know is going on fabulous vacations this summer. I received a group email asking about dates for a get together at the home of BestMan and someone replied to all and wrote "Hello from Corsica...I will be in Miami for a few days in August then I am leaving to travel again..." Um, hello? Doesn't anyone have a JOB anymore? Sorry, I digress!
I do like my job (most of the time) and I do like a lot of the things that go along with having a job...my own money, adult interaction, feeling like I am contributing, etc, but the travel can be hard. Any working parents out there have a good strategy for managing business travel? I would love some advice!

It won't be long before you're traveling for pleasure again!!! We'll drag you along with us one of these days!
ReplyDeleteSo great to see you guys on Saturday!
